Master of Arts in Ministry

THREE AREAS OF PREPARATION FORM THE CORE OF THIS DEGREE:

ONE THIRD OF THE COURSES FOCUS ON KNOWING.

Those in ministry engage culture and people deeply when they can do three things: one, wisely interpret Scripture; two, demonstrate how theology addresses the great questions that people have; and three, are at ease with, and are supported by, their own theological identities.

ONE THIRD OF THE COURSES FOCUS ON BEING.

What we do flows from who we are.  Every student will be enabled to discover pathways of authentic growth and development that embrace their unique identities and histories.  The goal is to deepen a vital, intimate walk with God.

ONE THIRD OF THE COURSES FOCUS ON DOING.

These courses will address the practical issues of ministry, including self-management, increasing one’s leadership capacities and discovering how to facilitate team building, organizational change, vision casting and implementation.

A TRANSFORMATIONAL PROMISE

HOW CAN A TWO-YEAR MASTERS OF MINISTRY DEGREE PROMISE SO MUCH?

By focusing on lifelong learning skills and habits.  This two-year degree can enable graduates to discover and incorporate basic disciplines into their lives that will foster continued growth in knowing, being and doing.

Integration in these three areas occurs in multiple ways.  Teachers who embody the life journey of integration identify the connections between what we know, who we are and how we serve.  Engagement with fellow students will encourage deep levels of interaction.  Retreat settings for weekend courses will encourage guided reflection, transparency and mutual support.  Internships suited to career goals, coupled with the guidance of mentors, will enable students to constantly ask the application questions and increase their understanding through doing supervised ministry.

We have not just created another academic degree.  We have laid out pathways of growth so that your passion to become all you are called to be in the world will be nurtured, guided and expanded.  Both significance and longevity will be added to your calling.
