Registration (CAMS)

Pre-Registration

DATES: Pre-registration dates will be published in the Academic Calendar.
Returning students will be able to pre-register for courses one week before new students.

New students will be assigned to an advisor by the Director of Admissions.

Pre-registration Procedures:

  •  The following information is an overview of the registration procedure. For more detailed information, please contact the Records Office.
  •  Pre-registration dates for new and returning students are scheduled during the preceding semester and can be found on the academic calendar.
  • To select classes, students register online via the CAMS registration portal when registration opens.  Students may be required to meet with their advisors to register at the discretion of the Academic Affairs office.
  • Students may have HOLDS on their accounts that they must clear before classes begin in order to guarantee the spots in his/her classes. Typical HOLDS are PREPAY (meaning the student has not paid for the semester); ADMISS (student is missing academic information for his/her academic file), and DELIQUENT (student owes money for previous semester). Numerous HOLDS are used by Richmont to flag student accounts; a complete list may be obtained from the Records Office. All requirements for HOLD removal must be met prior to the first day of classes for the student to become officially registered.
  •  By pre-registering, students obligate themselves financially to Richmont. If students desire to drop pre-registered classes, they may drop the class themselves through the CAMS registration system or contact their advisor.  Students who are not officially registered on the first day of school due to HOLD obligations will be assessed a late registration fee in the amount of $50.
  •  Students are officially registered when they have cleared all Holds for the semester and are made official the Friday before classes begin by the Records Office.

Waitlist Procedures:

  • If the course for which you are attempting to pre-register is full, you may be put on a waitlist.
  • If space becomes available in the course, you will automatically be placed into the course. You are responsible to check your CAMS Portal schedule to know if you have been taken off the waitlist and registered for the class.
  • By waitlisting for a course, you obligate yourself financially and academically to the course if a space opens.

Becoming Officially Registered

Official Registration Procedures:

  • To become officially registered, students must have cleared their PREPAY HOLD with the Business Office. You may carry an ADMISS, INFO, and/or ID HOLD on your accounts for no more than one semester.
  • All HOLDS must be cleared by the final date to make financial arrangements, which is published on the Academic Calendar (in the back of the Graduate Catalog). Students are officially registered by the Assistant Registrar before courses begin.
  • Students will not be able to register for the next semester’s courses until they have met all financial obligations to the school.
