Expressive Arts in Complex Trauma Intervention
Presented by Eliana Gil, Ph.D., RPT-S, ATR

This workshop will provide an overview of expressive therapies and highlight the rationale for their use from a trauma-informed lens, discuss their potential for engaging clients in a less threatening way, and discuss ways that expressive arts assist overall clinical goals in trauma treatment.  Participants will have opportunities for experiential practice as well as robust clinical discussions about specific cases and how expressive arts were beneficial. The workshop will discuss basic principles of expressive therapies and provide guidelines for providing clinical interactions in a safe and ethical manner. Finally, participants will learn where they can obtain additional training in expressive therapies that will support and enhance their work.
