Ben trusts God’s timing. Before even graduating college, Ben knew Richmont was where he wanted to be, but he waited for God to green light the move. He met his now-wife in high school but waited for a sense of readiness from God to pursue a relationship with her. Even now, he knows practicing therapy within a small group practice is his dream, but he is waiting for God to show him the specifics. Until then, he is moving confidently forward in the direction of his calling at Richmont.
A Georgia Bulldog, Ben earned his undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Georgia in hopes of eventually serving as a counselor. “The possibility of helping marriages and families become what God intended them to be is what drives me to complete my training,” he explains. Growing up in a loving and stable home, he feels prepared to join others as they move toward greater wholeness within the family. The devastation of divorce and its effects on children move him deeply, and Ben sees God’s heart pulled toward families in need. He aims to be a solider for Christ on behalf of all the marriages and families represented by his future clients.
The Richmont community alone, Ben says, “is worth the price of admission.” As he works toward his professional and spiritual goals, Ben finds himself continually blessed by the “depth of knowledge, sense of true compassion, and Christ-centered focus of the faculty.” He looks forward, even beyond graduation, to continuing the mission of Richmont with his own circle of clients – the work of “healing, restoration, and transformation” that is central to Richmont’s mission statement. And Ben’s own.
